Japanese Volunteers
at Athens 2004

Why you applied as a volunteer at Athens 2004?
It was my dream ever since I was little to be a part of Olympic Games. I wanted to have a great experience by meeting and working with a lot of people from all over the world. Olympic Games is the best place to do this.

What are your first impressions?
I really feel that Olympics "came back home" to Greece. I was a little worried whether all the venues would be finished in time, however, all are completed and there is no problem! The organization of the Games is very nice and I am surpised with the secutiry measures.
Because this is my first visit to Greece, I also had to learn the differences between Greece and Japan.

Ms Kayo Matsumoto is from Tokyo and works as Systems Administrator

Why you applied as a volunteer at Athens 2004?
Athens Olympic Games are more close to the original Games. The slogan of the games, "Welcome home" is really right. I wanted to see it and participate in it.

What are your first impressions?
Athens means of Public Transport are modern, frequent, without delays. The athletic venues are impressive. Greeks are really kind, Athens is a safe city.
