The first male baby born to Japan's Imperial family in 41 years
Princess Kiko, the wife of the Emperor's younger son, Prince Akishino, gave birth to a boy on Wednesday in Tokyo. The baby is the first male child for Japan's Imperial family in 41 years after his father, Prince Akishino.

Japanese troops complete Iraq pullout and open for future mission
All Japanese troops have now pulled out of Iraq, ending a two-and-a-half year humanitarian mission. The last troops left the southern city of Samawah late on Sunday (16 July). About 50 troops, including their commanding officer, arrived at an air base in Kuwait from which they are to fly back to Japan.

Japan Pulls Out From Iraq
Japan has decided to withdraw its troops from Iraq, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi said on Tuesday, bringing to an end the Japanese military’s riskiest and most ambitious overseas mission since World War Two. Tokyo has kept about 550 ground troops in Samawa, southern Iraq, since February 2004 on a non combat mission.
