Japan drops to 31st in annual Mothers' Index while Greece jumps to 17th
Japan was ranked 31st and Greece 17th among 146 nations in the annual Mothers' Index survey which released on 6 May 2008 by "Save the Children", a U.S.-based independent global humanitarian organization.

EU-Japan Summit to be held in Tokyo on 23 April
Japan, as the host country of the 17th EU-Japan Summit, has officially announced that the Summit will be held in Tokyo on 23 April. The Japanese delegation will be headed by Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, while the EU delegation will be led by Slovenian Prime Minister and President of the European Council Janez Jansa, and President of the European Commission José Manuel Durão Barroso.

Signing and Exchange of the Notes on the Japan-EC Customs Cooperation
The signing of the Japan-EC Customs Cooperation Agreement ("Agreement between the Government of Japan and the European Community on Cooperation and Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters") took place on January 30 (Wed) in Brussels between Mr. Takekazu Kawamura, Ambassador of the Mission of Japan to the European Union, and Mr. Igor Sencar, Slovenian Permanent Representative to the European Union, and Mr. Herve Jouanjean, Deputy Secretary General of the European Commission.

Toyota once again on top in Greece
Last year proved to be the best of the last three in the local car market, with sales rising by 4.5 percent from 2006. The sales chart has Toyota once again on top; the Japanese carmaker has increased its sales in Greece by 8.6 percent, reaching 27,701 units.
