Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has concluded meetings with Chinese President Hu Jintao and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao in the first summit between the two nations in five years.

Japan's new prime minister traveled to China Sunday to repair relations that had deteriorated over Japan's wartime history, territorial disputes, and a growing strategic rivalry. North Korea's nuclear program was also on the agenda.

The Chinese and Japanese leaders issued a statement expressing deep concern about North Korea's recent threats to conduct a nuclear test.

Before going to Beijing, Mr. Abe warned North Korea that it will face even greater international isolation if it carries through with its stated plan to test a nuclear weapon.

Mr. Abe travels to South Korea Monday to discuss Pyongyang's nuclear ambitions and to try to repair strained relations with Seoul.

Mr. Abe also invited China's leaders to visit Japan.  The invitation was accepted, though no date has been set.
