Director General for External Relations, European Commission, Mr. Eneko LANDABURU will visit Tokyo next week to meet with Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Mitoji YABUNAKA and to hold the EU-Japan High level Consultations on Tuesday, 24 January 2006.

The High Level Consultations come in the context of the run up to the next EU-Japan Summit Meeting to be held in Tokyo later this year and will cover a range of issues related to future collaboration between the EU and Japan; including economic relations, WTO and regional trade arrangements, as well as on cooperation on global issues.

During his visit, Mr. LANDABURU will also meet with other senior officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economy, Trade and Industry, and Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
