The official relations between Greece and Japan commenced in 1899 when the Treaty of Amity, Commerce and Navigation was concluded. The year 1999 was the anniversary of the 100 years of Greek-Japanese Friendship. The Committee for this anniversary organized in Greece many activities, such as exhibitions, educational programs, cultural and sport activities, seminars.
